Acne Treatment: Learn How to Treat Acne if you Suffer From Dry Skin

by Clarita Milles

People with oily and combination skin are noticeably more prone to acne problems than dry skin, however, this doesn't mean that people with dry skin don't also suffer from acne problems. As a matter of fact, people with dry skin can find effective treatments for acne, but they need to be aware that these treatments are different from those used to treat oily and combination skin.

With dry skin, acne lesions appear under the surface of the skin. This can create itchy and painful nodules. As with any type of skin, you should never try and pick at these acne lesions are it will lead to a widespread infection and inflammation.

Instead, treat dry skin acne with a moisturizer. This may seem senseless to most people, but when treating dry skin it is quite effective, and here's why:

The biggest problem with dry skin is a low level of moisture. This means that dry skin tends to dry out and even produce minute cracks through which acne bacteria can enter. By moisturizing regularly, you will be able to keep your skin supple and resistant against these small cracks.

You can also use oil as a moisturizer for dry skin. However, not just any oil will do. Try using a non-comedogenic oil, like olive oil, and massage it into your skin.

A warm moist washcloth should be used to remove the oil. Once the oil has been removed, you should apply a moisturizer before the moisture has evaporated from your skin. This procedure is especially useful for people who have very dry and sensitive skin.

Proper cleansing and a good acne cream or product will also help you prevent acne and treat acne lesions. You should not try products designed for oily skin, however. Acne treatments that are designed for oily or combination skin are far too harsh for dry skin.

A regular cleansing routine will help you deal with mild and moderate acne, nevertheless, you will need to seek a medical professional if you need to treat severe acne. Avoiding proper treatment of acne will only worsen the problem and lead to acne scarring which often requires serious acne scar removal.

Other Types of Acne Ingredients for Dry Skin

Traditional acne creams are often made with ingredients that are too harsh for dry skin. This is can be avoided by looking for products that contain more gentle ingredients such as:

-Vitamin B complex. Acne has often been linked to a lack in Vitamin B5. You can treat this problem by taking supplements and looking for skin care products that contain this ingredient.

-Tea Tree Oil. This product should be diluted before being used. Simply take a clean cotton ball and apply a few drops of this ingredient to moisten it, once ready, apply the moistened cotton ball to the affected area.

-AHAs. Alpha-hydroxy acids help promote exfoliation. If they are too strong for your skin, then use occasionally to treat key problems.

Although acne home remedies are appealing, there are certain skin problems, such as cystic acne and other types of severe acne that require a more potent solution, like BIOSKINFORTE. BIOSKINFORTE is a natural skin care product made with snail serum, a natural ingredient that is capable of helping you deal with all types of acne problems and that can even be used as a back acne treatment.
